// About

Life's syllabus is tough. We're just the extra class.

The origin story of a Discord server that decided motivation posters weren't working and roasting might.

How it started

Pathshala started as a small group chat of people who kept promising themselves "I'll study from tomorrow" and never quite did. Someone finally said the quiet part out loud — nobody was going to fix their habits through willpower alone, they needed a room, a leaderboard, and people who'd actually notice if they vanished for a week. So the server got built, the rules got written, and the mascot became a CD in a graduation cap, because even we don't take ourselves that seriously.

What we actually believe

Discipline beats motivation on the days motivation doesn't show up. A doubt asked out loud saves an hour of confused Googling. Public accountability works better than private promises. And a well-timed roast is sometimes more effective than a lecture — it's shorter, and you actually remember it.

What we're not

We're not a coaching institute, we don't sell courses, and nobody here is getting a certificate. Pathshala is a community-run study space — free, peer-driven, occasionally chaotic, and staffed by people who study alongside you, not above you.

The name

"Pathshala" means school. Ours just happens to run on Discord, hand out roles instead of report cards, and let you leave the classroom without raising your hand — though the Invigilator will probably notice.
